Single-Row Exports Overview
Export And Analyze Survey Data With Greater Flexibility And Context
Overview
Single-Row Exports provide a flexible, operational-style way to export reporter and group survey response data from the Impact Suite.
These exports are designed for organizations that need greater control over how survey response data is filtered, organized, analyzed, and shared outside the Impact Suite.
Unlike traditional survey exports, which focus primarily on summary-style reporting across multiple worksheets, Single-Row Exports are optimized for working directly with submission-level data. Most non-matrix responses are consolidated into a flat, analysis-ready worksheet that is easier to filter, sort, review, and combine with external reporting tools.
Single-Row Exports also include advanced export options that are not available in other survey export types, including the ability to:
- generate downloadable ZIP files for Media Upload question responses,
- and display contextual explanations for missing survey data.
When enabled, these exports can highlight and explain why a response may not appear, including situations where:
- a question was skipped by display logic,
- a response was not required,
- a question was hidden due to assignment settings,
- or a survey was not submitted.
This additional context can help reduce confusion when reviewing exported data and simplify auditing and troubleshooting workflows.
Matrix and goal tracking responses are still included through supplemental worksheets to ensure complete access to all submitted data.
Single-Row Exports are available in two formats:
- By reporter
- By group identifier
These exports support both live and archived reporter and group identifier data.
Why Use Single-Row Exports?
Single-Row Exports are especially helpful when you need more than a traditional reporting summary.
These exports are designed to support operational workflows and deeper data analysis by providing easier access to structured, submission-level survey data along with additional reporting context that is not available in other export types.
You may find Single-Row Exports especially useful when:
- analyzing survey responses in Excel,
- creating pivot tables, dashboards, or data visualizations,
- combining survey data with external systems,
- reviewing individual submission records,
- conducting audits or compliance reviews,
- troubleshooting missing or skipped responses,
- exporting uploaded media files,
- sharing structured response data with evaluators or funders,
- or organizing survey data across launches and reporting periods.
Because most non-matrix data is consolidated into a single worksheet, Single-Row Exports can significantly reduce the amount of manual restructuring often required when working with survey data outside the Impact Suite.
Unique Feature: Media Upload ZIP Exports
Single-Row Exports are currently the only survey export option that allows Media Upload question responses to be exported as downloadable ZIP files.
Depending on the export type, uploaded files can be organized:
- into a single ZIP file,
- by reporter name,
- by identifier name,
- or by launch period.
This makes it much easier to review, archive, or share uploaded media submitted through surveys.
When should i use a single-Row Export?
Use Single-Row Exports when you need:
- submission-level survey data,
- detailed review of individual reporter responses,
- a flat-file export structure,
- easier filtering and sorting in Excel,
- data for external analysis tools,
- simplified access to raw responses across launches,
- downloadable media upload ZIP files,
- or contextual explanations for missing data.
